If the court sides with the NFL, then Elliott’s six-game suspension could be implemented right away.

And that was for the team that wasn’t in the anthem spotlight this week. Let’s get to the Steelers.

Last week, all but one player, former Army Ranger and starting tackle Alejandro Villanueva, stayed out of sight during the anthem last week in Chicago. On Sunday, 45 uniformed Steelers stood shoulder to shoulder in a perfect line, the only thing separating them a few coaches (who also stood at attention), including head coach Mike Tomlin. And after the Steelers’ convincing and uncharacteristic (for this rivalry) 26-9 pasting of the Ravens, the logical question was: Is it over?

Beisner is sensitive and touches the right notes, letting Schottenheimer and wife Pat tell the story; it’s the mark of a good reporter to know when to let the story tell itself, and Beisner is excellent in that role here.

An extended injury-induced absence saw Coleman’s ownership rightfully dip in most IDP leagues, but now that he’s back to his ball-hawking best as the center fielder for the Carolina defense, he’s among the best streaming safeties while facing the Falcons familiar offensive scheme. –McCormick

As we saw when they traded with the Bears this year, the Niners don’t need to believe in a franchise quarterback to pick up extra selections. They just need one other team to believe.

Things haven’t changed much, if only because the Browns are still comfortable favorites to finish ahead of the 49ers and end up with the first overall pick. They might have pursued Garoppolo this offseason, and might have come away with him had Cousins signed with the 49ers, but there are too many teams with far more appealing situations who would have likely pipped the Browns to their longtime crush.

The two teams went into the fourth quarter knotted—at zero.

“That’s where we will stream the events on October 14th and 15th, but we have a lot of possibilities on the table for after that. We just finished a new WWNLive.com, which is something we really haven’t fully explored. After these two shows, we’ll look at our options and do what we feel gives the fans the best value for their money while, at the same time, supporting our business model.”

Dunlap’s late pick-six allowed the Bengals to take the lead and let Mixon get a few extra carries in the final five minutes of the game, but he still finished with just 14 touches (11 carries and three catches) despite having 109 total yards with those touches.

After a field goal apiece, the score sat at 3-3. With 10 seconds remaining, the Giants had the ball on the Bills’ 23, and it was time to use their newly installed secret play.

Bailey hasn’t shown yet, though, and on the floor, these new Hoosiers are still getting their sea legs. Half the team lines up, a ball in each hand, under the basket on one side of the court. On the whistle, they arc one ball between their legs, then the other. It’s an endless loop that’s part ballhandling drill, part Harlem Globetrotters razzle-dazzle.

The league asserted that allowing Elliott to take the field did irreparable harm to the NFL, as it challenged the league’s ability to enforce the CBA and impacted competitive advantage. In its response, the NFLPA countered that it was in fact the NFL and its appointed arbitrator who were interfering with CBA procedures because of the way Elliott’s investigation was handled.

He might soon begin to see his opportunities dwindle, and he’s highly unlikely to be started again in as many as the 46.7 percent of ESPN leagues that he was on Sunday.

Snow then addressed how to improve security without creating an environment of fear.

“You’re trying to persuade people to leave the safety and comfort of their own home, then drive to a building, pay to park, and subject themselves to some invasion of the privacy of their personal space to come in and watch your show. That is going to be a major concern going forward, as this tragedy will certainly leave its mark on the American psyche.”

TCU is on the board, folks! Turpin also just became the first player to have a passing touchdown, rushing touchdown, receiving touchdown, punt return for a touchdown and kickoff return for a touchdown in a season since Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey in 2015. This, kids, is how you get to skip the line at team breakfast in the morning.

“We’d looked at different things that were going on in the league and schemes and different philosophies and ideas—that’s the one we kept drawing back to, get the ball into somebody else’s hands quickly.”

His wife, Ann, his college sweetheart, had made him cut it. But he kept his signature mustache. It’s kind of a family tradition; his father and his grandfather both had one. He points out that Pakistani men typically wear mustaches, and maybe this is one way Khan stays connected to his roots, to his family, to his past. He started growing his in 1972, when he was 22, and he hasn’t gone without it since.

Improbably, it turns out that his polished and studied manner, which often played terribly in clubhouses—particularly opposing ones—has made him a star in the medium, with an approval rating he never approached on the diamond.

Amendola is known for his toughness and his willingness to play through discomfort.

Ortiz’s view, naturally, is less equivocal. “Things didn’t end up the way things should be,” he says of Rodriguez’s departure from the Yankees. “To be honest with you, there’s a problem between that organization and its players, I believe. I don’t even think Jeter is happy with them, you know what I’m saying? Now you would be like, hold on, Derek Jeter is not happy with the Yankees? What’s going on.

The lesson: There’s more than one way to support your young quarterback. The Jags are 3-2 and all alone in first place with the Rams coming to town Sunday. And they haven’t poured resources into amping up Bortles’ arsenal; Allen Robinson’s injury only made matters worse there. Instead, they’ve taken all the pressure off of him with their run game and defense.

Jacksonville drafted Leonard Fournette and Cam Robinson this year, and paid Chris Ivory last year, and they now lead the league in rushing. They’ve stocked the defense with high picks and premium free agents, and that’s finally paying off—they posted 10 sacks in their opener against the Texans, and picked Ben Roethlisberger off five times last week in Pittsburgh.

Los Angeles hopes to follow in the footsteps of the 1992 Chargers, who started 0-4 and rebounded to make the playoffs. The opposing fans that have filled the StubHub Center since the Chargers’ arrival aren’t making that challenge any easier to overcome.

“We’re known for being tough, northern people,” says Adam Thielen, the Vikings receiver who grew up in Detroit Lakes, Minn., in the northwest part of the state. “But you’re striving to get to the Metrodome and play for state championships.”

Danny Amendola, New England Patriots, knee, (Q), 1 p.m. ET: Amendola is known for making fairly regular appearances on the injury report, so this comes as little surprise. A hyperextended knee caused him to sit out practice on Wednesday, but he was able to return to limited work on Thursday and Friday.

The wrestling scene has welcomed back a familiar face in Teddy Hart.

The former prodigy, who is the nephew of Bret “The Hitman” Hart, wrestled his first match in a WWF ring at the age of 16 during a house show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Hart’s two-plus decades in wrestling have seen him grapple with tragedy, success, and controversy, but wrestling remains a better place with a clear-minded Teddy Hart in the ring.

At one point, as Taylor rose from the turf, Schulte dug his knee between the linebacker’s face mask, seemingly in an attempt to break his nose. Taylor ended up with two sacks in the game and countless more hits on McClure, a disruptive performance that Giants owner Wellington Mara later called the best of Taylor’s career.

Cam can do the curmudgeon thing full-time if he wants, but from what I can tell that’s not him and if it was him he wouldn’t have these opportunities off the field.

He is an absolutely magnetic personality; I’ve only been in this industry for a decade-plus and I’ve only been around Cam for two days (for a TV show, at that), but I’ve never seen anyone else like him (Karl-Anthony Towns is the only one who comes close). If you put him in a room of 100 people, spread across demographics, and told him he had 20 minutes to make every one of them smile, he could do it with about 12 minutes to spare. That’s why it’s so jarring when he gets into these press conferences and goes positively turdular for—as far as most of us can tell—no good reason.

So, sure, Cam can go the Belichick route, but if he does he’s really got to go the Belichick route 24/7. (And, just a reminder: Belichick’s approach wasn’t charming until he started winning Super Bowl rings on a fairly consistent basis.)

The Drunken Bears, as the name suggests, are a little more lighthearted.

Cody Bellinger: He burst on the scene this year with 39 home runs as a 21-year-old, setting a National League record for home runs by a rookie. He’s athletic enough to play the outfield but also gifted enough defensively at first base to become an annual Gold Glove winner there. He has a good approach at the plate, whips the bat through the zone with ferocious quickness, everyone raves about his maturity, and he had a flair for the dramatic big moment as well. What’s not to like? There’s nothing here to suggest this was a fluke season and he should be one of the game’s premier power hitters for a long time.

The Falcons continue to rely on their passing game to move the ball, affording Peppers regular shots at the pocket in what is a pivotal division battle this Sunday. –McCormick

They started playing about 15 years ago as a bunch of friends from the Chicago suburbs who attended the University of Iowa together and enjoy the Chicago Bears and drinking beer. They’ve played every year since the players were in their early 20s. “Now we’re the oldest team in the league by far,” says Dan Dusell, an original Bears player.

The Bears play more relaxed than the Stiff Arms. They never huddle. Their main play is Get Open. “We do not have plays,” Bears player Jeff Mielke says. “We make fun of the teams that do have plays.”

It may be moot. But I don’t think so. Schneider is one of the most aggressive GMs in recent NFL history. He knows his offensive line is the major Achilles heel on the team, the one thing standing in the way of what could be the last deep playoff run for an aging defense.

Mason has a bit of a zombie fetish, having featured the ghouls on his Blue Jackets mask

After the introductions, the attention turned to just how long the relationship is going to last. The Niners sent a second-round pick to the Patriots for Garoppolo because they viewed him as a solution for the present and the future.

But Garoppolo is set to be a free agent after this season, and although the Niners have the franchise and transition tags at their disposal, neither side seems to be in a hurry to get a contract extension completed.

Mason has a bit of a zombie fetish, having featured the ghouls on his Blue Jackets mask (as the military walking dead) and having donned one in Philadelphia that featured his own teammates as the undead. This one imagines the Founding Fathers and Betsy Ross as zombies, returning from the grave to protest the commercialization of Independence Day (we assume).

I was ready to go to sleep,” Redick says. But now it was Brett Brown’s turn to sell, and dammit Philadelphia’s head coach was going to make the most of his opportunity in the wee hours of July 1. “All of a sudden he’s like, ‘Oh, hold on a second!’” Redick recalls. The silver-haired, longtime Spurs assistant wanted to hurl a half-court prayer. What better marketing tool to woo a free agent than a 7’2” center with generational, two-way talent? Brown summoned Joel Embiid onto the block of the Sixers’ sparkling practice court.

While the newcomer isn’t necessarily off to a rough start, as he’s scoring consistently and providing assists, steals and threes, Irving has yet to reach 25 points in a game. Expecting him to do so against a defensive-minded Spurs team seems misguided. Irving’s DFS price isn’t in the stratosphere, but there are considerably better values on this night at guard, including Kemba Walker and the scorching Evan Fournier.
